ABOUT US

The Twechar Environmental Training Project (TETP) operates as a transitional employment programme, maximising employment opportunities for local people within the village of Twechar and surrounding areas. The project is governed by the board of directors of Twechar Community Action (established 2001 as a social enterprise company limited by guarantee with charitable status).

Social enterprises are business-like entrepreneurial organisations with primarily social objectives. As social businesses they are not focused on maximising profits for shareholders but on delivering a better quality of product or service for customers in pursuit of their social goals. They require a legal structure that enables them to trade whilst minimising the risk to the organisation and its members.

Twechar Community Action has a track record of proven sucess in community led developments through it's management and operation of a Healthy Living and Enterprise Centre, the hub of community activities in Twechar.

WHAT WE DO

Since its establishment in April 2007 the Project has successfully completed numerous hard and soft landscape contracts and projects. As well as carrying out work for private customers, we have also tendered, and completed work, for East Dunbartonshire

Council, East Dunbartonshire Development Company, Scottish Water, The Waterways Trust Scotland and British Waterways Scotland. In addition our seasonal maintenance programme currently cares for 120 gardens within East Dunbartonshire.

WHAT WE CAN DO FOR YOUR BUSINESS

To further our development towards sustainability we are seeking to increase our commercial seasonal maintenance contracts within East Dunbartonshire and North Lanarkshire. Our services include grass cutting, maintenance of planted areas, pruning of shrubs and trees (including tree felling), maintenance of hard landscape, de-littering, fencing and one-off tidy ups. These maintenance contracts are adaptable to suit the needs of our customers therefore we can base them on weekly, fortnightly or monthly visits. Our seasonal maintenance contracts can also be extended to provide year round cover.
